Jimmy served as Senior Pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo, Texas for thirty years and now serves as Apostolic Elder. Jimmy holds an Honorary Doctorate of Literature from The King’s University and has authored more than seventeen books. Jimmy and Karen have been married for 47 years and have two married children and five grandchildren.

Teresa Thomas is a Nationally Certified Mediator Trainer. She designed and developed the Mediator Certification Program and is passionate about the mission of training new Mediators to help change the trajectory of hurting marriages. Teresa is the Lead Mediator at XO Marriage. She has counseled and coached couples for over 30 years. She utilizes the power of God’s word combined with cognitive tools and techniques to help couples master their differences, renew their minds and successfully transform their marriages by surrendering to the process of learning how to do marriage God’s way. Teresa’s husband Jim of 35 years and her adult son Kade continue to champion and support her mission for marriages.

Dave and Ashley Willis spent thirteen years in full-time church ministry before devoting their work entirely toward the global mission of building stronger, Christ-centered marriages. She provides coaching, insight, and hope for couples in helping them to understand, navigate, and succeed in God’s design for their marriage. Pam believes in the preciousness and uniqueness of every marriage and works with couples to see God’s purpose for the relationship. She addresses both the practical and spiritual issues that hinder, immobilize and render couples ineffective in experiencing the true joy of being married.

    Marriage Mediation is an innovative marriage-saving approach that combines biblical principles with mediation techniques and tools.

  • What is the difference between Mediation and Counseling?

    XO Marriage Mediation focuses on beliefs and how our thought life plays a major role in restoration or disfunction in our relationships. The battle is in the mind and the good news is, it is the one thing that we can control.
    Counseling is more process oriented and usually dives deeper into mental and/or emotional disorders, abuse, addictions etc. We leave these processes to the professionals and focus more on teaching couples how to do marriage God’s way so they can experience long lasting restoration.

  • What is the faith based model for XO Marriage Mediation?

    When couples are at an impasse and experiencing marital struggles, they need someone to stand in the gap to provide discernment, wise counsel, and a plan for restoration. Mediators are the hands and feet for Jesus, the Great Mediator. They are committed to pointing the hearts of couples back to God. After you complete the training you will be certified as a Marriage Mediator and can walk a couple through the following:

    • A full day hands on experience with real-time breakthroughs for couples who are willing to surrender to doing marriage God’s way.  
    • Techniques for helping couples understand more fully how they get out of alignment of God’s best plan for their marriage and how to master their differences for long term transformation. 
    • Tools for renewing the battle in the mind and learning how to approach conflict with the mind of Christ.
  • How long is the XO Mediator Certification Training?

    The XO Mediator Certification ​is an innovative 70 hours training program developed to effectively equip Marriage Mediators to conduct Marriage Mediation sessions, which includes:

    • 8-Hour Mediation Session with you and your spouse. Critical to understanding the dynamics of Mediation and your future clients.
    • A 20-Hour (two days) Total immersion training with top experts in the field of marriage that will join the host of live and virtual speakers to educate Mediators how to successfully deliver our program.
    • 42 Hours of Self – Paced Distance Learning including actual taped mediation sessions which is imperative for this type of training.
  • What are the eligibility requirements?

    Applicant eligibility 

    • Minimum 2-year degree
    • Must be married (even if you are applying as an individual)
    • Experience with helping couples and/or in the helping field
    • Letter of recommendation if the applicant has no previous experience
  • How much does it cost to get certified?

    $2500 per person

    $3500 per couple

    Includes 70 Total Hours of Training:

    • One Day (8 Hours) Virtual Private Mediation with Spouse; Critical to understanding the dynamics of Mediation and your future clients.
    • Two Day (20 Hours) Live Intensive XO Mediator Certification Course; Includes live and virtual instructors in the field of marriage.
    • Distance Learning (42 Hours); Includes taped Mediations of real couples in live mediation sessions; imperative for this type of training.
    • 2 Year Membership to XO Mediator Network; Mediators will be included in our on-line directory at XO Marriage making it easy for clients to locate you.

    After being certified as a Marriage Mediator you will join the XO Mediator Network, with the following benefits:

    • Access to the XO Now extensive library of resources and videos.

  • Where is the live training located? Is the Certification offered online?

    Currently we are not offering an online certification. The live certification is held in Southlake, TX at the XO Marriage Headquarters.

  • Is there a re-Certification required to maintain XO Mediator status?

    Yes, every two years there is a recertification on-line course requirement to maintain certification and to continue to improve mediation skills. The recertification allows each member to maintain the title of Marriage Mediator, network membership benefits, and remain part of our directory.
